underground supper club @ the Mulberry Falmouth
Thank you to Chefs Jay and Harry and the front of house team Freya and Natasha for hosting us last night at their airy underground restaurant The Mulberry Falmouth. It was a really wonderful evening.
We each enjoyed a fabulous 6 course tasting menu (A little bit of everything, pescatarian, vegetarian or vegan were the options) with scintillating company as always.
Chefs Jay and Harry use local ingredients like a lot of restaurants but the focus is on the main ingredient of each dish to be showcased. This was definitely what we noticed last night in each course. There was a lot of discussions around the table last night about the flavour pairings and a lot of slow enjoyment in each bite.
My favourite would have to be the tenderloin pork stuffed in the cabbage with the artichoke purée it wasn't what I was expecting from the visual of the dish but it was a pleasant surprise. I loved the citrusy flavours that popped with each mouthful.
The Little bit of Everything Menu
- Homemade Focaccia with Seaweed Butter
- Chalk Stream Trout Ceviche - Smoked Squash, Radish and Chilli
- Line Caught Grey Mullet - Warm Tarragon tartar sauce, Celeriac slaw, Smoked paprika oil
- Purple Sprouting Broccoli - Soul Farm dried tomatoes, Hazelnuts, Shallot Mayo
- Cornish Mallard - Chanterelles, Herb gremolata, Pickled Blackberries
Philip Warrens Pork Tenderloin - Artichoke puree, Stuffed Cabbage
Thank you to everyone that dined with me. It is always so lovely to see old foodie friends that haven't been to my events for a while and to see some regular foodie friends and it's great to see so many new faces. I hope you all enjoyed the evening.
Can't wait to dine here again. This young duo are definitely ones to watch.
